Passing the Baton
“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” 2 Timothy 2:2
Over the past 20 years, this verse has been the core of SALT’s vision. It has compelled us to equip church leaders to teach those who can teach others with confidence. What was once only a dream has become reality!
Joseph, one of SALT’s national trainers, is responsible for exploring training opportunities in East Asia. He recently negotiated with a church in North East Asia for SALT to start a 3-year program this November. On his way home, he stopped by one of our old training sites to explore new opportunities.
The leader of this old training site made it clear that SALT did not need to return if we only came to teach the old courses. But Joseph’s disappointment turned to joy after hearing his explanation:
“We have quite a number of teachers whom your trainers taught long ago. They’ve been teaching SALT courses here for some years! Now, if your team has written any new courses, come teach us again!”
Praise God that we are hitting our ultimate target to pass on the baton of Truth. Those who have been trained are running on their own. Thank God for this affirmation of SALT ministries, it is a wonderful grace!
You can well imagine the joy in the room when Joseph returned and shared this news with the rest of the team. It is much welcomed news, coming at a time when the church-at-large is facing increasing pressures. What an inspiring report to keep the hearts of our national trainers burning strong!
