Honoring 30 Years of Ministry with SALT

Dear Friends,
For 30 years, SALT has faithfully served the churches of East Asia, equipping “reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” What began as a vision from Dr. Steve Torgerson, Rev. Steve Wible, and Rev. Cary Clifton has grown into a movement that has endured through challenges and flourished under God’s grace.

“A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night.” (Psalm 90:4, NIV)

For SALT, the past 30 years are also “like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night.” Today, we celebrate a milestone: the successful passing of the baton to the indigenous East Asian team. After weathering decades of adversities, our national trainers have matured into a formidable force.

Especially over the past five years, these dedicated teachers have proven their loyalty, persevering through lockdowns, surveillance and economic hardship, in order to teach God’s Word despite the risks. Their courage and commitment affirm that they are truly chosen for this work.

With this transition complete, SALT’s Board has prayerfully decided to conclude our historic mission. Effective 3/31/2026 we will cease fundraising and finalize accounts, with formal dissolution planned for July.

We are deeply grateful for your support over the past three decades. Because of you, SALT has been able to nurture leaders for the next generation, and strengthen churches across the country. As we step back, our partners in the Far East will continue to walk alongside the national teachers to ensure that Lord willing, the ministry not only survives but thrives for many more generations to come.

We invite you to continue supporting and praying for these steadfast servants, that God’s kingdom may grow ever stronger in their land. Until our formal closure, we will keep sharing updates on their work through our publications.

With Heartfelt Thanks,
The SALT Team
