A Decade in the Making: TKS Church’s First Cross-Border Teaching Journey

East Asia has always been SALT’s top priority for ministry. Yet whenever fellow workers in other regions have a need, SALT is equally committed to extending support, in order to equip and nurture more workers fit for the Lord’s use. Recently, under His guidance, a four-member team from the local TKS Church left their home city to teach NT Survey, 100 Steps at MC Church in a neighboring country.

A faithful partner of SALT, TKS Church began teaching OT Survey, 100 Steps and NT 100 in Sunday School years ago. Over time, a dedicated team specializing in these two courses gradually took shape. After a decade of preparation, the team is now ready to be tested and entrusted with greater responsibilities. This teaching opportunity may well serve as confirmation of that calling. The teachers reflected, “We truly treasure this precious opportunity given by the Lord.”

Although few in number, trainees who took part were all key leaders of MC Church—pastors, missionaries, and deacons. Their purpose was clear: to incorporate NT 100 into the church’s discipleship program. To achieve this, they first committed themselves to learning the course, so that they could later pass it on within the church.

The three-day intensive program passed quickly. While the training may not have been flawless, it was certainly a beautiful exchange and testimony. With the Lord’s leading, the students applied themselves diligently, successfully completing all course requirements.

One student shared, “Since childhood, people have said I have poor memory. But somehow, this time everyone said my memory was excellent. I think it’s because each step of this course is so systematic—the maps and mnemonics are closely connected, making it easy to grasp and remember.”

Teachers also grew from initial nervousness to increasing confidence. One remarked, “This time we truly stepped out of our comfort zone, gaining a deeper understanding of service. It will greatly help us in the future with our teaching, and we hope for more opportunities like this.”

Indeed, leaving the familiar environment of their home church to serve in an unfamiliar place brought undeniable pressure for the trainers. Yet that very pressure allowed them to experience how the Lord went before them. As long as they followed Him, the work was accomplished.

“The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” (Deuteronomy 31:8, NIV)

For SALT, this cross-border training affirmed and encouraged us because once again, we witnessed how the “transference” we value is not confined to East Asia, but is spreading to many other places around the world. This is truly a gift from the Lord!

With Sincere Thanks & Appreciation,
The SALT Team
